YEAR IN REVIEW

Tsimikas 1 year in review

Season 2021/22 was an exceptional one for Kostas, marking his best one (so far) in Liverpool threads. Those are only a few of the moments to remember:

In his first home («Anfield») game as a starter vs Burnley (21/08) he was voted as MoTM, delivering one assist. On 27 February, he won his first trophy, the Carabao Cup, earning it during a penalty shootout vs Chelsea.

Then on 13 April, at the quarter-finals of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League against Benfica, he provided two assists in a 3–3 draw. He was named Player of the Match (the first Greek footballer to achieve it).

On 14 May, Liverpool faced Chelsea in the FA Cup Final at Wembley. With the game having finished 0–0 after 90 minutes, Tsimikas came off the bench in the 111th minute. Liverpool then won in the penalties 6–5, with Kostas scoring the deciding penalty in a truly historic fashion!

On May 28, he was part of the Liverpool squad in the Champions League final to face Real Madrid, making him the second ever representative (Akis Zikos, Monaco-Porto in the year 2004) in the history of Greek football.
